COUNSELLING

An exciting new initiative is introduced at The Freedom Centre!

Michael Champion B.A. Dip Couns. AMIPD  will be providing free counselling sessions to clients of the Freedom Centre. Initially this is being piloted twice weekly to assess need and gather feedback about client engagement in the hope that the service could be mainstreamed in the future.

What Counselling is?
Counselling is about expressing and sharing feelings and emotions that are personal to you, in a safe and confidential way. Each of us is unique; we all experience what life brings in different ways. We sometimes reach a stage in our lives where we feel we cannot cope with our problems on our own - talking to a professional counsellor who is not involved in those issues can help us to be more self-aware, to obtain new strengths and a sense of direction by being heard not judged.

Counselling is not… about giving advice. It is an opportunity for you to examine your feelings and responses to situations and to look at whether those responses have been helpful to you or whether they have not. If your problems seem to happen again and again then it is probably time to ask why? Counselling gives you time and space to do so.

You may have lived with destructive feelings for a long time. It can take a while to get to a place where you are ready to talk about them, maybe for you that time is now!
